  Der 3. Europäische Kammermusikwettbewerb Karlsruhe 2009 wird veranstaltet vom Max-Reger-Institut Karlsruhe und der Stadt Karlsruhe mit Unterstützung der Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe. Ziel des Wettbewerbs ist die Förderung des kammermusikalischen Musizierens als einem wichtigen Bereich der Musikpflege mit besonderen Berufschancen für den exzellenten Nachwuchs. Zusätzlich sollen durch die Aufnahme des Komponisten Max Reger in das Wettbewerbsprogramm Impulse für die Pflege seines Werkes gegeben werden. Förderer des Wettbewerbs 2009 ist die dm-drogerie markt GmbH + Co. KG
